The Boy with the Flute: A Story of Talent and Triumph

Stories

Once upon a time, there lived a boy in a village. His parents had passed away in his childhood. He had no relative in this world. His mother had died as soon as he was born. Everyone used to call him Kenny.

Kenny was raised by his neighbours. He used to eat one meal at one person's house and the other meal at someone else's house. Everyone had seen him as an orphan since childhood, so everyone sympathised with him.

stories,

Kenny had become lazy after getting everyone's love and sympathy. He had become twelve-thirteen years old, but he did not feel like doing any work. He used to spend his time roaming around in the fields. He used to sit idle and keep playing the flute.

Stories

Kenny played the flute very sweetly. People used to get mesmerised by his sweet voice. Some people used to even give him rewards after listening to the tune of his flute. Time passed like this and Kenny grew up. But Kenny remained lazy.

He used to call Jackie and his wife, who had raised him, as uncle and aunt. Uncle and aunt's own son had also grown up and started going to work.

One day Kenny slept till late in the morning. His aunt was trying to wake him up again and again, but Kenny was not getting up. Aunt got angry and filled a bucket with water and poured it over Kenny. Kenny got up in fear. Aunt was already angry, she said - "Kenny, is this a way to sleep till the sun has risen? You are enjoying yourself on your uncle's earnings. If you earn money yourself then you will know what hard work is?"

Stories

Kenny had heard this from people hundreds of times that you will know when you earn on your own, but he never felt bad about it, but today, hearing these words from his aunt's mouth early in the morning pierced his heart like an arrow, he did not say anything to his aunt, but decided in his mind that he will return home only when he starts earning something.

Kenny hugged his uncle and aunt while leaving the house and went out. In the evening, when Kenny did not return for a long time, Jackie and his wife started discussing Kenny's changed behaviour in the morning. After some more time, Jackie started worrying about Kenny and he started saying to his wife - "You had scolded him a lot in the morning itself. It seems he has run away after getting angry with you."

Stories

The wife was now realising her mistake. But now nothing could be done except waiting for Kenny.

Slowly many days and then weeks passed, but Kenny did not return. On the other hand, Kenny had gone far away from there. He started feeling hungry on the way, but he did not have money for food.

While walking, he reached a nearby town. He asked for work from many people there, but he did not get any work. Firstly, he did not know any work, secondly, without any acquaintance, no one was ready to give him a job.

Fatigued, he sat under a tree and took out a flute from his pocket and started playing it. By chance, a musician was passing by on his horse. When he heard the sweet tune of Kenny's flute, he was fascinated by his talent. The musician took Kenny with him and treated him well.

Stories

The musician used to entertain the king by playing guitar in the king's court. The next day when he went to the royal court, the king praised Kenny a lot. The king said to the musician - "It is possible that Kenny is really a talented artist, but we want to test him first."

The next day the king called many great musicians of his kingdom to his court. All the scholars reached the court with their musical instruments. Kenny was also invited to the court. He kept his flute in his pocket and reached the king's court.

All the scholars started to please the king by playing their instruments one by one. When they came to know that the young man had also come to take the music exam, they all started laughing seeing Kenny coming empty handed. They started whispering among themselves that how would this boy be able to stand in front of their talent.

Stories

After everyone, Kenny's turn came, he went to the king and bowed down in front of him, then sat there on the ground and started playing his flute. The tune of his flute was really so sweet that everyone got mesmerised and lost in the tune.

As soon as Kenny finished playing the flute, the royal court reverberated with thunderous applause. The king praised Kenny and said - "Kenny, we are very happy with your ability. The most important thing is that despite everyone making fun of you, you did not lose your self-confidence. The ability and self-confidence of any person can take him to great heights anywhere. You are not proud of your ability. This is a matter of great happiness. We give you a job in our court."

Kenny became happy after listening to the king. He started living in a room in the palace. After a month, when Kenny got his first salary, he took the money and went to his uncle and aunt and gave them his salary and told them the whole story.

Kenny's uncle and aunt were very happy after listening to him. While giving his money back to him, the uncle said - "Son, wherever you live, be happy. But remember that no art is small. It is your flute that has brought you here."

Just then Kenny's aunt came from inside and said - "By the grace of God, you have got everything, you keep progressing with your hard work and dedication, this is our blessing. Remember that laziness makes a man useless."

Stories

Kenny hugged his aunt and said - "Yes, aunty, I have realized the value of hard work. Now I will never be lazy and will work with all my heart."

Taking the blessings of his uncle and aunt, Kenny went to the royal court and started living his days happily.
