The Impossible question and Intelligent Minister - Short Story

Maharaj Krishnadevaraya used to enjoy asking Tenaliram strange questions. He always used to ask such questions which seemed impossible for anyone to answer but Tenaliram was not going to give up. He used to give such answers to the Maharaj that he could not think of what to ask next. Once the Maharaj asked Tenaliram, “Can you tell the number of crows in our kingdom?”

Short Story

Tenaliram said, “Yes Maharaj, I can tell you.” You have to tell the exact number of crows, not guess and tell anything. “Yes Maharaj, I will tell you the exact number of crows. Please have faith,” Tenaliram said. The Maharaj said, “If you give the wrong answer, you will be given the death penalty.”

short-story,

Tenaliram said boldly, “Maharaj, I accept your order.” Tenaliram’s opponents started feeling happy in their hearts. They thought that today Tenaliram is badly trapped. How can crows be counted? Then the king asked Tenaliram to answer his question. Tenaliram said, “Maharaj, there are one lakh twenty thousand five hundred and fifty crows in our kingdom.” The king asked in surprise, “Are there so many crows in our kingdom?” Yes, Maharaj, if you don’t believe me, you can count them.

Short Story

“What if the count is more or less,” The king said. This cannot happen. Even if it happened, then surely some crows of our kingdom must have gone to another kingdom to meet their relatives or some crows of another kingdom must have come to our kingdom to meet their relatives. In this situation, the number of crows can be more or less. Otherwise, not. The king was speechless after hearing Tenaliram’s answer. Tenaliram’s opponents were left rubbing their hands because Tenaliram had spoiled their happiness.
